Being Better Ethically
Being Better Ethically - this is a part of our brand identity…
We’re a member of SEDEX and have an active approach to being better in all aspects of business.
Being ethical in how we trade is all about transparency, honesty and taking the steps needed to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for everyone, whether it is our head office locations in Australia and the United Kingdom or our production sites in Turkey and China.
"It has always been a part of our brand identity to show a focus towards doing what is right - turning a blind eye to save money just doesn’t sit well with me. I remember in our early years, actually paying a factory to do a SEDEX audit. Many factories won’t bear the cost unless you actually push the standard you require. We set a standard early on and have always aimed to be better."
For us, we are a retail brand first-and-foremost and anything that is aligned with the Swanky Socks brand must portray an active approach to being better - Better quality products, better quality labour, better quality customer service… to just be better.
We’re proud to be a member of SEDEX and actively question our suppliers around what is being done to be better ethically.
The easiest way to explain what SEDEX do, is to look at the four pillars under what the organisation reviews and audits:
- Labour Standards
- Health & Safety
- Environmental
- Business Ethics
Sedex enables us as a brand to assess our sites and suppliers to understand working conditions in their supply chain.
It doesn’t take much to be ethical. Being better ethically is a reflection of yourself and your company so whether you’re a small start-up or large multinational company, ask yourself… What am I doing to Be Better Ethically!
